The most dangerous pests that threaten plants and crops include spider mites, thrips, whiteflies and aphids. The best protection against pests is prevention.

Whiteflies are among the Hemiptera, sucking insects. They are capable of causing significant damage and a decrease or loss of entire production. Whiteflies feed on leaves from which they suck the sap and cause a metabolic imbalance in the plant, thereby weakening it. The attack of whiteflies is first manifested on the leaves. In addition, when sucking the sap, whiteflies release toxic substances, which then spread throughout the plant. Whitefly nymphs secrete a substance that promotes the growth of fungi on the leaves and reduces the efficiency of photosynthesis.

Spider mites, like other pests, have the ability to reproduce incredibly quickly. This class of arachnids spins webs, sucks and damages plant tissue in the leaves. This is where the first symptoms appear – yellow and dead spots, the leaf wilts and dies. Spider mites do not thrive especially at temperatures below 25° C and humidity above 60%.

Thrips are a group of sucking insects. The most dangerous are their larvae, which feed on plant tissues and cell fluids (leaves, flowers and fruits). Their saliva contains toxic substances that cause plant deformations.
